Comments

Trinity International had a new helmet design in 2009. A new logo, apparently a trojan helmet or similar, was adopted, as may be seen in the photo below. I would greatly appreciate a better photograph.

Malone, Marian, Olivet Nazarene, and Iowa Wesleyan were also using new helmet designs in 2009 (shown above).

In 2003, Iowa Wesleyan had switched to a new helmet design by at least the game against McKendree. The new helmet logo was the team name "Tigers" in purple, with the helmet shell remaining white and the facemask apparently black. Below is a photograph. I would appreciate a copy of the helmet decal so that I may add this historical helmet to the web site.

*1 This design was used only during game #11 of the 2005 season (vs William Penn) - a coaching change had been made just prior to the game.

This team appeared to have a new helmet logo in 2008. The 2008 logo was very similar to the one used by the team in 2007, but had some extra detail within it, as may be seen in the photograph below - I would appreciate a copy of the helmet logo for this helmet.

In 1996, ONU used purple helmets with purple faceguards and with a logo consisting of the letters "ON" in white, outlined in gold; this decal was worn on only the right sides of the helmets. Silver helmets were used in 1994 and 1995; the 1995 helmets were "plain", but an "ONU" logo inside a football shape was used in 1994.

*1 This design was used from at least 1997 through 1999, with the logo apparently worn only on the left sides of the helmets; the right sides were left "blank".

*2 In 2000, the ONU decal was worn on the left sides of the helmets only, and in 2001 it was used only on the right sides.

*3 The decal on this helmet was first worn during the homecoming game in 2004; in 2004 and 2005, it was worn only on the right sides of the helmets, with the left side left blank. For the 2006 season, the logo was worn on both sides of the helmet. No information about what scheme was in place in 2007.

QUINCY

2004, 2005 (some games) ? - 2003; 2005 (some games) 2006 -

The dates listed here are quite uncertain, and I think this may be one of those teams that either uses helmet decals irregularly, or sometimes wears them on only one side of the helmet. Clarification of the recent history would be appreciated. The helmet logo that was absent during at least some games in 2004 was back again by at least the 2005 game against McKendree.

The Quincy football team has existed only since 1986, so a complete helmet history for the team could probably be ascertained quite easily by someone at the university.
