Comments

Bryant is presently in a transitional stage towards full membership in both this conference and the Football Championship Subdivision.

New helmet designs for the 2008 season were reported for Central Connecticut State, Duquesne, Sacred Heart, and Wagner.

I would appreciate information about other historical helmet designs used by these teams. Some of these teams have only existed for a few years, so it is likely that a complete helmet history could be ascertained quite easily for them by someone at each respective school.

Historical Helmets

ALBANY

1973 - 1977 ? - 1985 1988 - 1992
*see note 1 below
1993 - 2003 2004 -

*1 This design was also used by Albany's club-level team from 1970 through 1972.

BRYANT

1999 -

The Bryant football team first played in 1999 and has used only one helmet design since its formation.

CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE

2001? - 2003 2004 - 2007 2008 -

During 2000, CCSU used blue helmets with decals containing the words "Blue Devils" and a pitchfork; below is a rather poor picture of this helmet. I would appreciate a copy of the decal used on this helmet.

DUQUESNE

? - 1998? 1999? - 2002 2003 - 2007
2008 -

MONMOUTH

1993 - 2003 2004 -

Monmouth's football team first played in 1993, so these are apparently the only helmet designs ever used by the team.

ROBERT MORRIS

1997 - 2001 2002 - 2005 2006 -

SACRED HEART

? - 1998? 1999? - 2003 2004 - 2007
2008 -

SAINT FRANCIS

c.1994 1996 - 1997 1999 - 2000
2001 2002 - 2005 2006 -

During the 1998 season, St Francis used black helmets with a logo depicting a red lightning bolt, outlined in white; I would appreciate a copy of this logo from someone. These helmets had red facemasks and white-red-white central stripes.

WAGNER

c.1974 ? - 1980 1981 - ?
2000 only(?) 2006 2001 - 2005; 2007 -
2008 -
